Using A Custom Font

Not only are fonts fun they are potentially... crime fighting!

What font(s) _does_ the USA use for car licenses? Well, it varies.

FYI, care license plate is the property of the state where your car is registered. It is "given" to you to provide identification for the vehicle. States started issuing vehicle licenses over a hundred years ago. Originally, owners were given a number and then required to make their own plate. Massachusetts claims to have issued the first license plate in 1903.

Altering a license plate, even without 'fraudulent intent' is illegal but penalties vary a lot by state from a warning to a hefty fine. It'll almost always get you pulled over to explain though.

There are two ways to go about it using a custom font on your webpages. We'll go through both here.

  1. How to use on your pages. (examples)

    GOOGLE FONTS

API driven treasure trove that has been around since 2010
  2. How to use on your pages. (examples & instructions)

    FONT SQUIRREL

another treasure trove that's been around even longer and gives you an idea how the google API is probably working behind the scenes...
  3. Files with "Web Open Font Format(WOFF)" file extention

Ok, go find your own and make a page of text sending me a link to your favorite(s).
